Finally, New York Okays Medical Marijuana for These 10 Chronic Pains

Medical marijuana gets green light from New York State Department of Health as announced Thursday – it will soon be able to treat 10 chronic pains.

In the effort to catch up with the other states, New York finally approves the use of medical marijuana to treat certain chronic diseases.

In the announcement, Dr. Howard A. Zucker as Health Commissioner, said stated that medical marijuana has been helping patients across New York and now it will be able to help more people in treating their chronic conditions, NYDailyNews reported.

The decision is based on the scientific literature that leads to the many benefits of medical marijuana usage for patients who suffer from excruciating pains due to their illnesses.

These are the eligible 10 chronic pains treatable using medical marijuana soon:

1.      HIV infection or AIDS

2.      Parkinson’s disease

3.      Cancer

4.      Inflammatory bowel disease

5.      Neuropathies

6.      Huntington’s disease.

7.      Multiple sclerosis

8.      Spinal damage

9.      Lou Gehrig’s disease

10.  Epilepsy

The regulations will become effective next year.

NY has also considered adding up the number of medical marijuana providers in the state. It will include more certified physicians to prescribe marijuana for drug.

Currently, New York State Medical Marijuana Program records approximately 750 doctors that are able to give medical marijuana prescription and the official website of New York State has also reported more than ten thousands of patients have been experiencing the benefits of the drug.
