If the ballot measures pass, Maine and Massachusetts would also be the first East Coast states to approve recreational weed for adults, as voters have done in  Alaska, Washington state, and Oregon.

A recent poll shows support for the referendum in Maine, and pro-marijuana groups have a cash advantage in the final weeks of the campaign. But Maine law enforcement groups warn legalizing could make the state’s drug problem worse.

California, Nevada and Arizona also have marijuana legalization on the ballot this year.
